We are also super honored to be one of the exclusive vendors for LAG Records' re-issue of Joe Hisaishi's (composer of Studio Ghibli's PRINCESS MONONOKE and SPIRITED AWAY) album called KISSHŌ TENNYO.
Lastly, we'll be releasing Brave Wave's collaboration with SEGA for the games SONIC ADVENTURE 1 & 2.

Mondo is proud to present a vinyl pressing of the soundtrack to 2001's cult-classic JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS. This re-issue features a 12-page booklet of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photos and all new liner notes by Emma Garland (Noisey). Comprised of interviews with writers/directors Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont, star Rachael Leigh Cook, and the voice of Josie, Kay Hanley.
Re-mastered and pressed on 180 Gram Purple Leopard vinyl, the record features a jerkin' bonus commemorative 7" from former Mega Records label mates DuJour (2000-2001).
Based on the Archie comics characters of the same name, JOSIE takes the Rock & Roll trio into the world of 2000s-era MTV in a satirical masterpiece that skewers the consumerism masquerading as identity that - even to this day - surrounds the music industry.
The film struggled to find an audience, but the music of these Pussycats is still beloved to this day. This may be in part to the powerhouse team involved, which included Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), Kay Hanley and Michael Eisenstein (Letters to Cleo) and Adam Duritz (Counting Crows), just to name a few.

We are super proud to welcome a brand new distributed label in the form of LAG Records and its second release, an exclusive re-issue of the 1984 LP, Joe Hisaishi - Kisshō Tennyo that comes complete with a download card and poster.
Whilst known worldwide for his elegiac scores to Studio Ghibli classics like PRINCESS MONONOKE and SPIRITED AWAY, it’s a different kind of soundtrack behind Kisshō Tennyo, intended as it was to be a musical accompaniment to an '80s manga of the same name. It’s also a showcase of Hisaishi’s lesser known talents as an electronic musician, shortly before he became composer of choice for world-renowned directors such as Hayao Miyazaki and Takeshi Kitano.
On Kisshō Tennyo we hear Hisaishi unleash synth arpeggios with all the suspense of a giallo horror. His cold minimalist ambience evokes the likes of Terry Riley. Tracks like 血の抗争 (‘Blood Feud’) meanwhile lighten the mood, running at car-chase speed with the bounce of early YMO. All-in-all, befittingly beguiling music for the cartoon tale of a modern femme-fatale who has the powers of an ancient deity (the eponymous Kisshō Tennyo or ‘吉祥天女’, to use the album’s Japanese title).
In the same spirit of the manga, LAG Records have combined the old with the new on Kisshō Tennyo. Licensed by Tokuma Japan Communications, the original release from classic anime label Animage comes with new artwork by Luna Monogatari, and a re-mastering courtesy of Jerome Schmitt at the AirLab. A download card and poster will be included with the gatefold LP.

Our friends at Brave Wave have partnered with SEGA for an official vinyl pressing of the soundtrack to the game SONIC ADVENTURE.
The album includes a comprehensive full-color booklet featuring a reflective interview with head of Sonic team Takashi Iizuka and Jun Senoue, as well as liner notes by John Linneman of Digital Foundry, song lyrics and character art. In addition, both albums include a free code for the digital tracks via Bandcamp.
