NEW THIS WEEK

MONDO
BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 2XLP. Music composed by John Carpenter in association with Alan Howarth. Original artwork by Phantom City Creative. Pressed on 2X 180 Gram Red vinyl with Splatter. $35

Mondo is proud to present the complete original soundtrack to John Carpenter's '80s classic BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, available on vinyl for the first time in over 30 years. Featuring original artwork by Phantom City Creative and remastered for vinyl by James Plotkin.

The score to BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, composed by Carpenter in association with Alan Howarth, is an outlier in Carpenter's filmography. It's a heavy pulsing synth score that is simultaneously upbeat and haunting. A true genre mashup, both the film and the score are difficult to pin down, which makes their singularity all the more apparent.

ATOMIC BLONDE
- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack 2XLP. Original artwork by Ron Lesser. Pressed on 2X 180 Gram Clear with Pink color-in-color vinyl. $35

A cool film needs a cool soundtrack, right? And none come cooler than ATOMIC BLONDE. A double LP filled to the brim with needledrops of some of the '80s best known cuts, as well as some under the radar gems, and a smattering of brand new tracks recorded especially for the movie.

David Bowie, George Michael, The Clash, Nena, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and A Flock Of Seagulls of course need no introduction, and they all contribute absolutely killer songs here. Rubbing shoulders with these A-listers are lesser known acts such as Re-Flex, whose track ‘The Politics of Dancing' was a minor hit in the UK and is a pure '80s synth-pop banger from start to finish. After The Fire went from playing uninspired prog rock to recording the should-have-been classic ‘Der Kommissar,’ full of funky guitar licks and a chorus so hook-laden it should be illegal. ‘Voices Carry’ by American new wave band 'Til Tuesday features Aimee Mann on vocals and is an all-timer everyone needs on vinyl.

For those unfamiliar, MARY AND THE WITCH'S FLOWER is the premiere film from all new animation company STUDIO PONOC. Directed by Studio Ghibli alum Hiromasa Yonebayashi (THE SECRET WORLD OF ARRIETY, and WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE) the film is absolutely gorgeous and painstakingly detailed with inventive imagery. Composed and produced by Takatsugu Muramatsu, featuring an original song by SEKAI NO AWARI and original artwork by Tom Whalen.
