Hi everyone! This week we're excited to release our first Death Waltz Originals title of 2019. For those unfamilar, Death Waltz Originals is our in-house sister label to Death Waltz that concentrates on non-soundtrack releases. Focusing mainly on the cutting edge electronic scene, we have released records by such artists as Pye Corner Audio, Deadly Avenger, Pentagram Home Video and many others. Even though these releases are not soundtracks they have a kinship with early ‘80s synth-scores and are heavily influenced by past electric music. On Wednesday we're continuing the collection with the new Hunter Complex record, 'Open Sea.' In addition, we'll have the brand new release from our friends at Burning Witches Records, which is a soundtrack for the film BLACK LAKE by BurningTapes. Enjoy folks.

The long awaited new LP from Hunter Complex features 10 tracks of supreme synth goodness that are at the same time retro and yet totally futuristic. It’s musically rich in ideas; melodies intertwine with soaring synths and '80s style drum machines, but it never once feels like pastiche or a carbon copy of a bygone era. The hooks on this record are incredible; it's mix of warm analog and bright digital synths feature a layer of complexity that most records in this genre can’t hope to achieve.

THELMA - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP
THELMA is a 2017 supernatural coming-of-age story directed by Joachim Trier. The film centers around Thelma, a shy introvert that leaves her family behind to go and study in the city. She befriends Anja, an outgoing student, and the two have an immediate and intense attraction. To say more would ruin the film as its dark tale of love, loss, and supernatural abilities unfolds. The score by Ola Fløttum is full of starkly beautiful dark strings and mood pieces washed over with the occasional synth drone or texture. It’s absolutely haunting and captivating, and ranks as one of our favorite scores from the last few years. $25
A QUIET PLACE - Original Motion Picture Score LP
The score by Marco Beltrami is an absolute tour de force - it's basically another character in the film. It can be forceful and bludgeoning one minute and soft and reflective the next. His players twist their instruments to generate tones and textures not usually associated with them; the layers of sound and percussion on display are incredible. Composed by Marco Beltrami. $25
