"The tricky bit here was to express the ideas behind the film: religion, sin, sacrifice, faith, etc..., but not to do so explicitly. Essentially make a piece about a movie about religion without hitting it too hard on the nose. Happily with the imagery from Paul Schrader’s storytelling, and Ethan’s gut-twisting performance, it was about choosing among riches. There were a lot of different ways this poster could have gone, but this is the only way that expressed the film honestly without spoiling it. Capturing the likeness within the barbed wire made for one of the trickiest drawings I’ve ever had the opportunity to execute." - Greg Ruth
