Celebrating the Art of Jock with Our First Book Release!
News

We're excited to unveil, in partnership with Insight Editions, our very first collectible book, “The Art of Jock,” (working title) featuring the breathtaking work of the prolific Mondo collaborator, comics illustrator and conceptual artist. “The Art of Jock,” announced by the artist to a packed panel at MondoCon this past weekend, will be available for sale September 2016 at book shops everywhere and at MondoTees.com and InsightEditions.com.

“I'm so proud to be working with my friends at Mondo and Insight to put together the first extensive collection of my work,” said Jock. “It's been a labor of love for months already, and we can't wait to share more details. We're working hard to make this as special an edition as it can be.”

Mark Simpson, known better by his pen name Jock, is an internationally recognized two-time New York Times Bestselling Artist and Eisner Award winner. For the last two decades Jock has become one of the most recognizable illustrators in comics with his work on titles with Marvel (Savage Wolverine, Daredevil), DC/Vertigo (The Losers, Batman: Black Mirror), and his runaway success Wytches at Image Comics, which he also co-created. His career has now grown beyond just the comic book world into creating highly sought after movie posters as well as concept art for acclaimed films such as The Dark Knight trilogy, Children of Men, Dredd, X-Men: Days of Future Past and was most recently responsible for designing the instantly iconic Ava from Alex Garland’s Ex Machina.

Insight Editions has a legacy of best-selling pop culture art books, including Godzilla: The Art of Destruction, Pacific Rim: Man, Machines and Monsters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Visual History and Game of Thrones: A Pop-Up Guide to Westeros.

“The Art of Jock” will delve deeply into the prolific artist’s catalog to not only showcase the best of his published works but also his process with extensive sketches and notes throughout. Jock’s notes and personal insights will form the majority of the text, but there will also be interviews and quotes from many of his colleagues, long time collaborators, and directors of films he has worked on. This access to his process will show an outside of the box approach that has made him one of the most critically acclaimed illustrators working today.
