This weekend is New York Comic Con (Thursday, October 6 through Sunday, October 9) and our Funko family will be there in full force. However, we didn't want to miss out on any of the fun, so we sent a few spooky surprises that will be for sale at the Funko booth (#1419) ... a "Frightmare on Fun Street".
At the Funko booth, a few members of the Mondo team will be onsite and selling the GHOSTBUSTERS II - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP, with art by Paul Mann, as a special "first access" exclusive for NYCC. Of course, we can't promise that this pressing won't cause the Statue of Liberty to parade down the street in front of the Javits Center, but GHOSTBUSTERS II is a cinematic celebration of New York, so we wanted the first chance to buy it to be here in the city.

We will also have a very limited amount of some of our horror vinyl soundtracks on site, including some John Carpenter favorites for you to take home.

For more information about what Funko and Loungefly will be selling, as well as where their booth will be located, head to their website.
If you are not able to make it to the show, or unable to get a reservation, do not fret: the remaining copies of GHOSTBUSTERS II will be also be available right here on in a couple weeks, as a webstore exclusive. See you in New York!

Mondo, in partnership with Sony Music are proud to present a limited edition re-issue of Randy Edelman's only recently released score to the 1989 sequel GHOSTBUSTERS II.
Elmer Bernstein decided he wanted to take a break from scoring comedies the late '80s, which left significantly large shoes to fill for the sound of such a highly anticipated sequel. Director Ivan Reitman had worked with composer Randy Edelman on his previous hit TWINS, and, after GHOSTBUSTERS 2, began a long term partnership on a a few more films throughout the '90s.
Randy's work on GHOSTBUSTERS 2, like the film itself, is fairly underrated. As much as Bernstein saw his decision to pass on scoring this sequel as step towards establishing his distance from comedy, the Edelman score's admitted lack of adherence to the original leads to an organic fore-fronting of the more genre-heavy aspects that define the franchise to this day.
Tracks like "In Liberty's Shadow" have the bombast of a lost cue from John Williams' SUPERMAN score, while tracks like "The Sensitive Side of Dana" and "Vigo's Last Stand" play the earnest character drama and horrors of the film fairly straight respectively, all while still offering the playful nods to the original musicality of the first film with wistful bits of playful piano and synth. It's a juggling act in the film itself that has led to divisiveness amongst the fandom, but as a score its successful in marrying the genres, while never feeling like a retread.
Featuring amazing artwork by Paul Mann, pressed on Pink "Slime" colored vinyl, and limited to 1989 copies, this is the perfect companion to our previous release of Elmer Bernstein's GHOSTBUSTERS score.
