Mondo, in partnership with Milan Records and A24, is proud to present the premiere physical release for Aska Matsumiya's delicate and beautiful score to Kogonada's 2022 masterpiece AFTER YANG.

Very few films have had opening credit sequences as disarming as AFTER YANG. "Welcome to Family of 4" is at once an introduction to all of the key and incidental players of the chamber play that the film becomes, but also acts as the film's central theme in action ... how disruptive grief can be on the family unit. What follows is a patient and sensitive portrayal, both sonically and visually, of the confusion and occasional clarity that come from unexpected loss.

Matsumiya's score is also meta in many ways ... using an AI plugin as a tool to sequence a few tracks, teaching it the themes she had written for the film, and asking the AI to perform an interpolation of sorts. What it produces is a refracted, strange but poetic reinterpretation of ongoing melodies from the score, mirroring the film's narrative of seeing the family through the memories of their former robot companion. And if that wasn't enough, the film features additional music from famed, iconic Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, that plays during one of the film's most emotional moments.

The music from AFTER YANG, much like the film itself, is a reminder of the beauty that exists in the spaces between your perception and reality. An astonishing work of filmmaking and a truly gorgeous score. This Limited Edition vinyl pressing features a 12-page booklet with liner notes by writer David Sims (“The Atlantic,” “Blank Check”) and is pressed on 180 gram Tea Leaves vinyl (also available on 180 gram Black vinyl).

Death Waltz Recording Co. and Milan Records are thrilled to present the original soundtrack to LAMB.

Having worked with his sister Hildur Guðnadóttir on her Oscar-winning original score for JOKER and with Ólafur Arnalds on his BAFTA-winning soundtrack to BROADCHURCH, Tóti Guðnason's debut as a solo composer is nothing short of extraordinary.

LAMB is a beautifully slow-burning film that focuses on a childless couple in rural Iceland that makes an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature in this dark and atmospheric folktale, the striking debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson

"LAMB was initially intended to be complete without a score, and I feel that is a humbling starting point for a composer. Growing up in the north of Iceland, I'm very familiar with the feeling of rural silence. Valdimar Jóhannsson extraordinarily portrays that feeling in LAMB, and I did my best to play into it while respecting it. My responsibility was to create something more fitting than silence, and silence can be the greatest of sounds." (Tóti Guðnason, 2022)

Directed by David Robert Mitchell, IT FOLLOWS tells the story of a teenager (Maika Monroe) who finds herself haunted by nightmarish visions and the inescapable sense that something menacing is after her.

IT FOLLOWS features a stunning, electronic-driven score by Disasterpeace. Retro and electro, the score is an instant classic, reminiscent of the best work by John Carpenter.

THE WITCH is an incredible horror film directed by Robert Eggers (THE LIGHTHOUSE). Set on the edge of a dark forest in 17th-century New England, THE WITCH is a tale of one family's terrifying unravelling under the specter of black magic, possession and unknown evil.

When an English farmer leaves his colonial plantation and relocates his family to a small plot of land, strange and unsettling occurrences happen immediately ... animals become vicious, crops wilt, and one of the children disappears. Paranoia grips the family as they accuse one of their own of witchcraft.

Any great horror film has an equally impressive composer, and THE WITCH is no different. Mark Korven has created a one-of-a-kind spine-chilling score by employing obscure instrumentation from hurdy-gurdies to nyckelharpor. The result is a discordant, spectral affair that draws the listener into the misty world of the family's farm as horror permeates.
THE WITCH - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP. Music by Mark Korven. Mondo Exclusive pressed on clear vinyl with black and red smoke and housed inside a reverse board sleeve. $30
