We're excited to announce our next collaboration with artist Laurent Durieux for our latest gallery show - The Art of Laurent Durieux Part Two. The opening reception will be on Friday, November 9 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM. The show will run through Saturday, November 17.
Laurent Durieux is a celebrated illustrator and graphic artist from Brussels, responsible for some of Mondo’s most memorable works of pop art, including a 2013 poster of JAWS, which also caught the eye of Steven Spielberg. His unique style is immediately recognizable, and spans both classics and modern cinema alike.
We have a couple of previews from the upcoming exhibit, including incredible new prints for APOCALYPSE NOW and THE SHINING. Durieux has produced evocative artwork for Francis Ford Coppola classics in the past like THE GODFATHER trilogy and THE CONVERSATION. Coppola has said Duriuex “takes poster art to a high level. The images, which are stunningly executed, express ideas and themes of the movies he has chosen in new terms. They communicate much without words, and stand alongside the wonderful tradition of illustrative art."
Mondo Creative Director Mitch Putnam said, "after a number of years, we're proud to have Laurent Durieux showing at our gallery again. This time, he delivered another incredible collection of movie posters and original drawings. This is not one to miss."
The Mondo Gallery is located at 4115 Guadalupe St., Austin, TX. This show is FREE and open to the public.
