Hi all, this week we have a super fun one: have you ever heard of "Industrial Musicals"? Imagine if every year, for the latest iPhone reveal, Apple staged a full-scale Broadway Musical about their newest features and earnings potential. Sounds absurd right? Well, it's not far from what used to happen in the 50's, 60's and 70's for corporations like Ford, Whirlpool, and American Standard Plumbing - as documented in the hilarious and heartwarming documentary BATHTUBS OVER BROADWAY. Basically, former Letterman writer Steve Young fell down a rabbit-hole after he discovered this strange musical sub-genre while crate digging through used vinyl. That obsession led to this film, and that film led to this incredible collection of songs that have been unearthed that have to be heard to believed. And we are honored to be releasing this soundtrack on 2XLP vinyl this week as our new release. The soundtrack is streaming on all platforms if you want a taste, but if you need a deeper dive we also interviewed the team behind the film for the latest episode of our podcast!
