The soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick’s FULL METAL JACKET is an even split of memorable needle drops from artists such as The Dixie Cups, Nancy Sinatra, and The Trashmen, and an intense, moody score by Abigail Mead (actually Kubrick’s daughter Vivian under her preferred composer credit). Mead’s work delivers huge, haunting swathes of metallic drones and atmosphere, giving way to punishing rhythmic drums that sound like explosions, helicopters, and warfare. It’s a remarkable piece of music that sounds years ahead of its time.

As is typical of a Kubrick score, it features previously existing tracks and classical pieces, but also contains four original pieces recorded especially for the film by composer Jocelyn Pook. These pieces are the centerpiece of the film and are incredibly unsettling and experimental, perfectly complementing the disturbing and ominous visuals.
Artwork was created by Alan Hynes and fully approved by the Kubrick Estate, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The package is as dark and mysterious as the film itself: two beautiful printed inner sleeves are housed inside a bespoke die cut jacket printed by Stoughton Press.

This essential re-issue has been re-mastered at Abbey Road Studios for the 50th anniversary. Cut at 45 RPM and pressed on two vinyl discs for the first time ever. Housed in a die-cut gatefold jacket featuring original artwork by Matthew Woodson and pressed on 180 Gram colored vinyl (also available on 180 Gram black vinyl).
