Hey everyone! As we're sure you know, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the original HALLOWEEN. To celebrate this milestone we're releasing the first five HALLOWEEN scores and we are giving you a FREE slipcase to house them in!
We're kicking things off this week with our long-awaited re-issues of HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS and HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS, and will be continuing with one release a month concluding this October with the original John Carpenter score to the 1978 classic that started it all. The audio for these releases have all been re-mastered and the previously released vinyl versions of HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN II and HALLOWEEN III will feature all new artwork, too.
In addition to all that, we also have new distributed titles from our friends at One Way Static and Burning Witches Records this week too.

To celebrate 40 years of the HALLOWEEN franchise, Death Waltz Recording Company is thrilled to bring you a newly re-mastered version of the score to HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS on vinyl for the first time in 30 years, mastered in 2018 by Alan Howarth. This score marked the first time Howarth was working solo within the HALLOWEEN franchise and he takes the blueprint he and John Carpenter created, but weaves new themes for both Jamie and Michael within the familiar framework of the 5/4 theme timing.

HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS has again been freshly re-mastered by composer Alan Howarth for this first vinyl re-issue in 30 years. He once again takes the familiar HALLOWEEN blueprint but expands it greatly utilizing layers of synths to create a fresh take on something that is familiar to all fans of the franchise.

THE BOOGEYMAN was a 1980 slasher film starring John Carradine, which became a "slasher genre" hit and made the UK's banned ‘Video Nasties’ list. Two sequels were also produced in 1981 and 1983. To underscore his film, Lommel needed a soundtrack that fitted the times like the synth-based John Carpenter styled soundscapes used in HALLOWEEN, for this he turned to Tim Krog and his team ‘Synthe-Sound-Trax’ (SST for short) composed out of Jan Barlett and Ed Christiano. This trio produced a soundtrack far more progressive and unique than one might expect. Moving easily between traditional melodies and more experimental textures, The BOOGEYMAN's score is a superb example of an economical but highly effective scoring style that would be prevalent throughout the ensuing decades.

A follow up to the much loved Glass Angles (Death Waltz) comes R0b0phas1a - a jerky complexity of jaunty beats and carefully considered melodies. It's choppier and slightly darker then Glass Angles with nods to Harold Faltmeyer, Tom Tom Club, 80's style electronics and even Hip-Hop beats.

Musician/composer Justin Sweatt, aka Xander Harris, was in the process of working on an ambitious double LP when he was struck by a car riding his bike in New Orleans. The accident could have been much worse, but Justin has still been de-commissioned for several weeks/months while he heals from an injured shoulder and a concussion. Villains of Romance is leaner than first envisioned, but that gives the record a vital nature. At nine tracks just under 50 minutes it’s another exploration of life through the eyes, heart, and mind of Xander Harris. From hazier fare like “Bleeding Meridians” to techno banger like “First Taste of Hate” to the gothic beauty of “Individual Outs,” Sweatt outdoes himself. There is even a collaboration with singer Nicolas Nadeau on the lilting and gorgeous “Wither Lace.”
