And if that wasn't enough, we're thrilled to present two of Milan Records great out-of-print 2xLP reissues from 2015 and 2016: Basil Poledouris' essential score to ROBOCOP and Brad Fiedel's score to THE TERMINATOR, both on exclusive colored vinyl.

All items this week go on sale at The Drop Wednesday at Noon CST.

NEW RELEASE

SAINT MAUD - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK LP

Death Waltz Recording Co., in partnership with Milan Records, A24 and Stage 6 Films, is proud to present the soundtrack to SAINT MAUD.

Adam Janota Bzowski delivers a tense, eerie and earth-shattering piece of music on his first full-length score, Rose Glass's SAINT MAUD. One of the best horror films of the last few years, SAINT MAUD is genuinely chilling and scary. This score is the real deal; haunting synths, choral flourishes, down-tuned strings and sinister reverb-soaked sound design collide to bring you a beautiful, haunting and downright terrifying listen. Its minimalist approach allows Bzowski to fully explore his sound and ambient drones while creating a mesmerizing soundtrack album full of gorgeous themes. A masterpiece.

SAINT MAUD Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP. Composed by Adam Janota Bzowski. Artwork by Jack Hughes. Pressed on 180g Clear Blue vinyl with Grey Splatter. Housed inside a gatefold sleeve. $30. Expected to ship in June 2021. Ships worldwide. $30.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS ITEM IS A PRE-ORDER. ANY ORDERS CONTAINING THIS ITEM WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL JUNE 2021.

SAINT MAUD POSTER

The stunning Jack Hughes art used for the LP is also available as a limited screenprinted poster, the angelic pastels holding back the film's ever-encroaching darkness.

"As someone who spent his formative years in English Catholic schools, SAINT MAUD resonated with me on a personal level. I even recall studying William Blake’s work (a recurring theme throughout the movie) — the perfect marriage of Catholicism and art, despite Blake’s hatred for institutionalized religion. Although my school tried to mold me into a Maud, I was always an Amanda; it just took me until my mid-20s to fully realize it.

Mondo approaching me with this project felt like an honor. I can’t name many female directors within the horror genre, let alone British ones, and wanted to produce something that helped amplify Glass’s talent. Glass’s vision of SAINT MAUD is as beautiful as it is sinister, and initially, I struggled to produce something that would do it justice. At the start I found myself in a bit of a concept dead-end — determined to make the (challenging) Blake-inspired route work, as his art is scattered throughout the movie and goes on to inspire Maud’s actions. The first concepts, as unique as they were, didn’t land and I was (begrudgingly) forced to shelve the idea. Thankfully I was asked to design the soundtrack LP and those Blake-inspired sketches eventually saw the light of day and in the appropriate place. The team and I decided to pursue something simpler: Maud the martyr.

After all, the beauty in the movie is in its simplicity. The final scene is the perfect summation of Maud’s martyrdom and mental illness. Immortalising Maud by casting her final moments in oxidized copper, reminiscent of a holy statue, the cracks of her mentality rending her constructed ideology asunder. Despite her actions, one cannot deny the world from Maud’s perspective is fascinating. Thank you, Glass, for giving us a glimpse." - Jack Hughes
