For the twentieth release in Data Discs' numbered series of archival game scores, we are pleased to present the Mega Drive classic: Alien Storm.
With audio sourced from the original hardware and artwork drawn from the SEGA archives in Japan, Alien Storm is a fun and often strange mix of FM synth grooves and sample-based rhythms wrapped in a sound palette that's instantly recognizable and most succinctly described as “Mega Drive, 1991.”
Accompanied by a heavyweight lithographic print and pressed on Slime Green vinyl (also available on Black vinyl).

ALIEN SOLDIER - Original Video Game Soundtrack 2XLP
For Alien Soldier, composer Norio “NON” Hanzawa (Gunstar Heroes) created one of the most technically impressive, challenging and experimental game scores of the entire 16-bit era.
In line with the game's frantic gameplay, Hanzawa’s score is often intense, perplexing, and occasionally overwhelming. It's also punctuated by some surprisingly minimal and inventive synth passages, which at times feel oddly reminiscent of Vangelis’s BLADE RUNNER.
Alien Soldier is presented as a remastered double 180g LP, with audio sourced from the original Japanese console and cut at 45RPM. Featuring an accompanying foldout poster of the original cover artwork and pressed on Opague Grey vinyl (also available in Black vinyl).

Directed by Sam Feder and executive produced by Laverne Cox, this documentary shows how the fabled stories of Hollywood deeply influenced how the USA feels about transgender people, and how transgender people are often taught to perceive themselves. The film world-premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and was also a selection of the Tribeca, CPH:DOX and Hot Docs festivals. Composed by modern pianist Francesco Le Metre, the OST accompanies the film with 14 pieces that underscore the emotional nuances of the stories being told on screen.
