PHENOMENA- ORIGINAL MOTION SOUNDTRACK 2XLP:
Death Waltz Recording Company and Mondo proudly present the complete original score to Dario Argento's 1985 formidable fright film, PHENOMENA (aka CREEPERS). This SUSPIRIA-esque offering features music by Claudio Simonetti, Goblin, Simon Boswell, and Andi Sex Gang, and includes all the original cues and three never-before-released bonus tracks!
Immediately upon arrival at an exclusive girls' boarding school in Switzerland, fourteen-year-old Jennifer (played by Jennifer Connelly in her first starring role) learns that a mysterious killer is on the loose and is targeting her demographic. Waking up from a midnight sleepwalk, she befriends a local entomologist (Donald Pleasance) and, with his help, realizes that she has the psychic ability to communicate with insects telepathically. Will this trait help catch the maniacal menace? The illusory orchestrations on this album comprise an array of musical styles and incorporate a bevy of traditional and electronic instruments and effects. From multi-layered reverberating synths, Simmons drums, bass, electric guitar and the inventive use of an operatic aria, the sonic results are a buzzing hive of sound. DARK GLASSES - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK 2XLP:
This is the soundtrack to the brand new Dario Argento film, DARK GLASSES (his first film in ten years). It will be streaming exclusively on SHUDDER, starting 10/13.
"When I learned that I was going to compose the soundtrack of the next Dario Argento film, I immediately thought of the music of Goblin and Claudio Simonetti, who have composed more than ten films under the direction of the Italian maestro. I obviously had the bells of SUSPIRIA in mind, the introduction sequence of PROFONDO ROSSO, its gothic organ, or, of course, the electronic sounds of TENEBRE.
I composed an entirely electronic soundtrack, mixing dark themes and sequences with more pop music. Then, as Goblin did with funk and disco, I added a more personal touch with more contemporary sounds from electro and techno.
For this soundtrack, I wanted to follow the tradition of the classic Giallo, while trying to bring a personal and modern vision." - Arnaud Rebotini
