For our first AMP of 2024, we’re having an old friend for dinner. That’s right, we’re returning to Jonathan Demme’s THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, aka the only horror film to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
In just 16 minutes of screen time, Sir Anthony Hopkins created one of the most disturbing movie baddies of all time, and illustrator Nate Sweitzer’s new TSOTL poster perfectly captures the power of Hannibal Lecter’s haunting glare.
"I was struck by Lecter's unnerving gaze throughout the film, and I wanted to bring that chilling sensation to the final art while referencing some iconic scenes from the film in the moth's silhouettes. To make the artwork come to life, I chose to draw him extending a lone finger forward as if he were reaching out from the poster towards the viewer. The only thing protecting Starling from Lecter was inch-thick plexiglass, and when it comes time to frame my copy, I might have to use the same." - Nate Sweitzer
