We're excited for the next release in our partnership with our friends at Black Dragon Press - BABETTE'S FEAST by Sterling Hundley. Directed by Gabriel Axel, the film focuses on two sisters who have spent their entire lives on a desolate coast under the wrathful eye of their pastor father and his devoted congregation. After he passes away, a Parisian refugee named Babette enters the picture as their housekeeper and with her a world of fleshly pleasures like delicious food and wine. Based on a 1958 story by Isak Dinesen - a pen name of Karen Blixen - and winner of 1987’s Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, BABETTE’S FEAST is a Danish drama that deftly balances the relationships between piety, grace, and selflessness that ultimately tells a story of what it means to be an artist.
We love Sterling's artwork for this poster. It’s elegant and hypnotic just like Babette herself, and his approach to the congressional community and the struggle of allowing themselves such earthly sensual pleasures like a decadent meal or drink is perfect.
