"A closeup shot of eyelashes trapping a fly was the first image I recall seeing of the AEON FLUX short on LIQUID TELEVISION late night as a teenager in the 90s. A scantly clad antihero, on a violent and futile mission, sprinting through futurist architecture while blasting her way through hoards of flailing Breen soldiers ... all told with minimal dialogue ... this run of shorts was my introduction to more esoteric and "serious" animation. Belgian artist Bruno Vergauwen gives us an iconic and dramatic snapshot at the climax of her story, just before she will inevitably meet her demise."
