The art direction of the film was inspired by medieval tapestries with its story having French Fairy Tale roots in TALES OF MOTHER GOOSE. I first discovered his art through his work as a background painter and color artist in SLEEPING BEAUTY , and I was mesmerized. I'm really happy I was given a chance to illustrate the dragon Maleficent as the centerpiece of the poster. I always enjoy drawing fantastical creatures and her design, to the credit of Ken Anderson, certainly is one of the most iconic dragons ever. Maleficent in the film, whether human or dragon, really steals the show."
